Cerise Small | UX Designer | About me
Naturally Curious. Purposefully Practical.
About Me

I’m Cerise, and I’m a UX designer with a background in research, content, and SaaS, specialising in turning complex problem spaces into clear, usable, and commercially effective experiences. My work sits at the intersection of user needs, business goals, and real-world constraints.
I’m naturally inquisitive, deeply practical, and driven by the belief that good design should reduce friction, build trust, and make systems work better for people.
My interests
What can you expect from me?
Adult Gymnastics: I attend classes and practice skills on my own. I admire the skill and discipline of professional gymnasts, but no, I never wanted to be one.
Art & Illustrations: I got into drawing about 5 years ago and took some classes. I’m a big fan of oil paint, and I have even sold some of my work.
Research-first: Interviews, personas, and evidence before assumptions
Commercially aware: Design decisions tied to conversion, adoption, or efficiency
Clear communicator: Plain English, structured thinking, and strong content design
Iterative: Comfortable refining, removing features, and simplifying flows

Fun fact: I was one of the first cheerleaders to compete nationally in Britain! Continued to compete for 10 years!

During my politics degree, I realised I had a real passion for the ‘Why’ in decision-making. This led me to political psychology, which continued to enthral, from my first encyclopaedia of political psychology to a slightly worrying obsession with non-fiction in gender politics, populism, politicians, economics, ideology, policymaking and health disparities. Pedagogy and UX: Customer Education
Translating large amounts of content into digestible lessons is a skill. Tutoring exercised my instructional design skills to communicate methods and practices that supported my own academic learning.
